The book Have You Seen The New Forest Unicorn? by Carole Smith. It's on a gold bookstand with a plant, a wooden toadstool and a fabric orange pumpkin next to it.

Hello Readers,

It’s my turn on the Book Tour for Have You Seen The New Forest Unicorn? a beautiful children’s book written by Carole Smith. The tour started on the 15th of July and runs to the 8th of August, so if you’re interested in following the tour and reading the other reviews, then you can find all the details at the end of this review.

As usual, before I share my thoughts, let me tell you the synopsis from the back of the book:

“Have You Seen The New Forest Unicorn?

You may be lucky to find the unicorn hiding by the Stone Water Trough at Wooton.

Maybe Willow is right… the unicorn may pop by Setley Pond for a drink!

It could even be visiting the Trolls who live under Wooton Bridge?

Perhaps the unicorn visited Hinchelsea, and saw the Hot Air Balloon?

If you go to the Deer Sanctuary at Bolderwood or to Pipers Wait you may even see the Monarch.

Drummer, Merlin, Peewee, Riley, Juliet and Willow will keep searching for the unicorn, can you join them?”

While I’m not the target audience for this book as it’s a children’s book and I am neither a child nor have them, I have always loved Horses and used to ride. So when I found out that the author of this book was a fellow Horse lover and rider, I really wanted to pick it up.

Reading this story, you can really tell that Carole knows all about horses from the character introductions at the beginning of the book to the Ponies personalities, they felt like real New Forest Ponies that you could go see in the wild. The little foals are all adorable and their little adventure was a lot of fun to read about. The other animals they meet along the way were all great as well and helped the New Forest setting come to life.

Carole Smith’s lovely, easy to understand writing style, paired with the beautiful illustrations by Alexandra Wilson, has resulted in an incredibly wholesome book that both children and adults will enjoy. As an adult who reads a lot of heavy sci-fi and fantasy, reading this book felt like a warm hug for my soul and I have family members with children, who I’m sure would love this book as well.

Overall, I loved this book and would highly recommend it ~ whether you’re looking for a book to read with your children or younger family members, or as an adult looking to recapture that magical feeling that only children’s books can give you.

A huge thank you to Literally PR for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review and a place on the book tour.

Stay Safe. Read a Book.
